About Us

The Experimental Aircraft Association

The local chapters are the hands working on that mission. The Southeastern Minnesota Chapter was founded in 1958 as Chapter #100 and has been in continuous operation. The Chapter consists of about 40 members from across the Rochester area. Our members are individuals from a broad set of disciplines -- teachers, doctors, engineers, owners of large and small businesses, and professionals from a variety of trades. Our members' experience with aviation ranges from "brand new" to pre-WWII.

We are actively involved in the safe construction and maintenance of private aircraft. The collective knowledge gained through many years of aviation learning is applied to each member's project(s).

We host community events, including "Young Eagles Day," when our members volunteer their time and aircraft for the benefit of children ages 8-18. We provide free education and aircraft rides. It's a unique and essential activity to preserve and promote personal aviation. Our other main annual activity is a fly-in pancake breakfast at the Dodge Center airport. This is a well-known event to the residents of the area and pilots in the region. It is a great opportunity for the Chapter to work together and meet new friends, and it is reliable source of income to offset our expenses and grow the Chapter.

The Chapter maintains a 501(c)(3) status as a scientific, educational, and community service charitable organization.
